Evening of Choice:
Shifting the narrative
This year’s theme, Shifting the Narrative, is a deep dive into harmful narratives, their impact on young people, and how we can work together to shift narratives to be more honest, supportive, and accepting.
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at our 9th Annual Evening of Choice!
This year, we heard from a powerful keynote speaker, Shannon Ross. Shannon is the CEO/Founder of The Community, which he founded with invaluable outside support in 2014 while serving a 17-year prison sentence. The Community addresses the effects of the criminal legal system with two arms: Pre-entry and Correcting the Narrative. Since his release September 2020, Shannon is also a founding partner of the Multidimensional Justice Solutions firm Paradigm Shyft, an Ed Trust and Rockwood alumn, a Represent Justice ambassador, a consultant with Marquette University’s Higher Education in Prison program, a keynote speaker, and a graduate of the Masters in Sustainable Peacebuilding program at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
We had a fun evening of powerful stories, delicious food, music, a 360 photo booth, fabulous raffle prize (such as Mariners tickets, a VIP Seahawks experience, a distillery tour & tasting, and more) and more!
