Youth & Young Adult Advocacy
Transform systems of injustice
Our YYA Advocacy Program is an opportunity for young people who have been most impacted by the criminal legal system to engage in PAID advocacy training and opportunities. This program is a space for young people to build community and advocate for systemic change. We meet for two hours a week over Zoom during the school year and have regular in-person advocacy events and opportunities. No previous experience is needed.
Our mission is to transform unjust systems and empower young people by offering them resources, tools, and assistance to amplify their voices and drive transformative action within their communities.
We welcome young people who are passionate about:
Learning methods of advocacy
Building understanding and analysis of city, county, and state government
Building public speaking skills
Applying an intersectional lens to problems and solutions
Eligibility: The program is for Young People (15-24 years old) from communities most directly impacted by the criminal legal system and who are invested in advocacy work that focuses on King County and the greater/surrounding areas.
Applications are closed for the 2024-2025 cohort.
